QPSQL Password authentication failed unable to connect on the initial installation of TaxCalc

A QPSQL password authentication failed for user "hubuser" may occur on the initial installation of TaxCalc and prevent connection to the database.

This issue is caused by the use of illegal symbols when creating the Postgres root database password. As this issue can only occur on the initial installation of TaxCalc, no data will be present and the program can be re-installed. 

To resolve the following programs should be uninstalled through the Windows Control Panel.

  • TaxCalc
  • TaxCalc Discovery service
  • PostgreSQL 9.4

Delete the C:\TaxCalcHub folder before reinstalling TaxCalc.

When creating the Postgres root database password on this screen use a password that does not contain any illegal symbols.
