When I try to download TaxCalc I get "page cannot be displayed" or "SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length"

Some users have reported problems trying to download TaxCalc, with the following errors.

Users with Internet Explorer may get:

This page can't be displayed.

  • Make sure the web address https://www.taxcalc.com is correct.
  • Look for the page with your search engine.
  • Refresh the page in a few minutes.

Those with Firefox get:

An error occurred during a connection to www.taxcalc.com.
SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

This error is likely related to the use of a third party firewall such as Zone Alarm. To be able to download the file from the website, temporarily disable the firewall, restart the browser and try to download the file again.

This behaviour may be avoided in the future by making sure that downloads from TaxCalc are not blocked by your firewall rules.
