TaxCalc crashes when opening on a Mac with multiple screens (Practice version only)

Under some circumstances TaxCalc will fail to open on a Mac that has more than one monitor.

The problem is caused when TaxCalc tries to open on a secondary monitor.

To resolve this problem:

  1. Temporarily unplug any extra monitors, leaving only the primary monitor connected.
  2. Start TaxCalc.
  3. Once TaxCalc is started, close it again (this makes TaxCalc remember it is on the primary monitor).
  4. Plug back in any extra monitors.
  5. TaxCalc will now open on the primary monitor without crashing.

Please Note: if TaxCalc is moved to a secondary monitor and closed from that monitor, you will need to repeat the process above to get it to open correctly again.

Users can also stop this problem from occurring if they turn off the background wallpaper in TaxCalc:

  1. Open TaxCalc.
  2. Go to View > Customise TaxCalc.
  3. Tick the Hide image on home screen option (see below).
  4. Click Use and TaxCalc will now re-open correctly, regardless of the monitor it was displaying on when closed.

TaxCalc are looking to resolve this background behaviour in a future release of the program.
