What are the advantages to my practice of using a networked version of TaxCalc, rather than multiple standalone versions?
There are a number of advantages to running a network version over multiple standalone installs:
- All clients are in one place.
- There is increased visibility and accountability across the Practice.
- Practice Manager becomes a complete record of the Practice's clients. Reports show a true reflection of the client list and work status across the Practice, not just the clients on whichever computer the user is sitting at.
- If more than two standalone installations are used then the cost of running a network version may actually be cheaper! Pricing is per concurrent user. The client software may be loaded on as many computers as you wish, but further payment is only needed if more than two concurrent users are needed in the Tax Return / Accounts Production modules. If users are just using Practice Manager, they do not count as a concurrent user.
- Tasks can be set effectively across all users.
- Junior staff can easily prepare work that can subsequently be checked, signed off and submitted by senior staff, without having to copy data manually between computers.
- Clients can be assigned to a member of staff by issuing them their own Client Portfolio.
Users who require the full functionality of TaxCalc when away from their desk can utilise a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access data remotely.
