A customer reported problems with restoring a backup made using 'i-sure' (a MozyPro based service from Barclays). It transpired that the user was backing up the TaxCalc hub folder (which contains the database files) rather than backing up the database as recommended. Further investigation showed Mozy-based services do not back up empty folders and when restored the database engine could not start, as the file structure was incomplete. It is not recommended to copy the individual TaxCalc files and folders to online storage due to problems such as the above. You should always make backups through the Administration > Database > Backup Database tool instead. These database backups can then be copied to the destination backup medium. The TaxCalc backup utility can be used to back up directly to an online folder if the service is addressable through Explorer. This backup utility makes a proper backup and verifies the file structure, so you have a high degree of confidence that it is correct, regardless of the destination.
