In the late 2017/early 2018 update, TaxCalc utilised a new component which more closely adheres to the Microsoft usability guidelines for display purposes. However, we have found that due to the wide variety of hardware and software in use (and tweaked user settings) this may not always display as expected. Users should be able to resolve this problem by going through the following steps

Windows 10

  • Right hand click on an empty part of the desktop
  • Choose display settings
  • Click on the slider Change the size of text, apps and other items…
  • Turn the slider down a  bit. It’s likely you are set to 150% and tweaking the settings to 125% would help without adversely affecting other programs

In some cases you may need to run the Cleartype setup after changing the font size if you find it is not sharp

  • Right hand click on an empty part of the desktop
  • Choose the Display settings option
  • Choose Advanced display options
  • Scroll down and choose Cleartype text
  • Run through the Cleartype options

Windows 7

  • Right hand click on an empty part of the desktop
  • Choose Screen Resolution
  • Click on the text that says Make text and other items larger or smaller
  • Tweak the settings. It’s likely you are set to 150% and moving the settings to 125% would help without adversely affecting other programs

Again, you may need to run the Cleartype setup after changing the font size if you find it is not sharp.

  • Right hand click on an empty part of the desktop
  • Choose Screen Resolution
  • Click on the text that says Make text and other items larger or smaller
  • On the left hand side choose Adjust Cleartype text
  • Run through the Cleartype options
