If you try to open a TaxCalc return and it will not open, the most likely reason is that the return was created on a different machine. Please locate the return file in the machine where it was created in the Documents folder searching for .tcs as the file extension. Save the file to a memory stick or cloud drive to transfer it to the current machine.

Or if the return has lost the link to the software. Please locate the return file in the Documents folder of your machine and search for .tcs double-click on the return file and it will open into TaxCalc.

Or if you create a return on the latest version of TaxCalc export the return and then another user imports the return into a practice database on an older version of TaxCalc you will not be able to open the return.

Or the return may have become corrupted.

Please note: TaxCalc 2013 onwards is a multi-year program with functionality added for each tax year going forward.
