Article ID: 3118
Last updated: 07 Oct, 2021

Non-practice and standalone users may experience an Error updating database error message after ;

Restoring an old backup file from V11.7.061 or earlier into the latest version of TaxCalc ( V11.16.123)

OR

Manually running a newer installer (V11.16.XXX) over the top of an old installation.

The following steps detail how to take a manual backup of the database and then how to correct the issue. Please note an uninstallation of TaxCalc does not remove the database, however good practice dictates that a backup be taken.

Windows Non Practice / Personal users.

  1. Click on your Windows logo and type '%appdata%' and select the windows File folder.
  2. Navigate to the Roaming\Acorah Software Products\TaxCalcHub folder.
  3. Take a copy of the hub.sqlite file.

Windows Standalone Practice Users.

  1. Navigate to the C:\TaxCalcHub\Sqlite folder.
  2. Take a copy of the hub.sqlite file.

MAC users.

  1. Navigate to Library > Application Support > Acorah Software products > TaxCalcHub.
  2. Take a copy of the hub.sqlite file.

Uninstall TaxCalc
Uninstall TaxCalc either through the Windows Control Panel or by sending it to the trash.
By default the database is not removed.

To resolve Install this version of the program.

Windows - TaxCalc V11.8.001

MAC - TaxCalc Mac V11.8.001

Linux - TaxCalc Linux V11.8.001

TaxCalc should now open successfully and once in the program use the Notifications panel in the top right to download and apply the latest available update for your machine.
