How do I use the demo database?

Article ID: 2391
Last updated: 04 Jul, 2022

The demo database allows you to practise using TaxCalc on a separate standalone database and trial its features without having to enter lots of data.

To use the demo database, follow these steps:

  1. Start up the trial product in TaxCalc.
  2. Click on Notifications in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Click on Show details for Demo Database Available.
  4. Click on Download.
  5. Click on Switch to Demo Database.
  6. Confirm the prompt that you wish to switch.

TaxCalc will close and reopen to give you the demo database. This will include all the modules for which you have a (trial) licence.

NOTE: None of the changes you make in the demo database will be saved. If you want to save data or enter real client data, use the main database. When you switch from the Demo database to the Live database the Demo database will be deleted.

To switch back from the demo database to your main database:

  1. Log into TaxCalc
  2. Click on Notifications in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Click on Show details for Demo Database in Use.
  4. Click on Switch to Live Database.
  5. Confirm the prompt that you wish to switch.

TaxCalc will restart and you will connect back to your live database. If you wished to switch to the Demo database again you can follow the original instructions above and the Demo database would be downloaded again.
