Merge of Data Checklist

If a TaxCalc database is to be combined with another TaxCalc database the information that can be transferred is limited.
The database with data being extracted is referred to as the secondary database.
The database that will import this additional data is referred to as a primary database.

The data that can be exported from the secondary database consists of;

Practice Manager

All clients can be exported. We can filter this to only look at active clients, and exclude archived records, if preferred.

Information which cannot be moved from one database to another includes, but not limited to:

Some base client details cannot be brought over and would need to be rekeyed. In addition, where applicable, it is not possible to bring over Business details, multiple phone/email address, Bank details, Services Rendered, AML information, Relationships, Share Capital, Shareholdings, Communications Activity, Notes, Active Work, Automated Message Settings, Document Manager and Passwords (Client, Client Work, Esign and Encypted PDF).

If a client from secondary matches the UTR of an existing client in primary, they are deemed a duplicate client and the secondary client and any additional information held in practice manager will not be imported.

Detailed information on all the fields that can be imported can be found in the TaxCalc Help file.

Data held in fields outside of those listed in the Help file are not transferred and if required it is your responsibility to obtain PDF copies.
Click Help > Contents > Introduction to Practice Manager > Importing Clients and Tax Returns > Importing Clients from a CSV file.

Tax Return Production

All tax returns can be exported and imported into the primary database. This includes all data on the return including filing history. The IR Mark for unlocked returns has the potential to change.
Why does the IRmark on a tax return change?
