How do I claim foreign tax credit relief on my Capital Gains?

You can claim foreign tax credit relief on the Capital Gain entries on your tax return in SimpleStep or HMRC Forms mode.

SimpleStep mode

  1. Go to Capital Gains Tax.
  2. Check that you've completed the required details on the Asset Details page.
  3. Go to Foreign Tax Credit relief.
  4. Complete the entries on screen as required – you may need to scroll to further boxes on the right. 

HMRC Forms mode

  1. Go to Foreign > Page 6.
  2. Click on the Wizard icon next to box 33.
  3. Complete the entries on screen as required – you may need to scroll to further boxes on the right.
