In certain instances, customers have reported that they are having difficulties in deleting a CT return from the TaxCalc application. This is specifically in instances where users are on the practice interface and use our Accounts Production module too.

We are looking to input additional messaging within the application however you will need to ensure that you have run through the below steps.

  1. Open the CT600 and check if the Post Tax Journal feature has been used
    1. Click on Check and Finish > Post Tax Journal and see if there is an entry listed. If there is a link, the software automatically creates a journal batch for corporation tax charge in within the accounting period. This means that the return cannot be deleted as it is linked with the accounting period in the database.
    2. To remove this journal posting, open the accounting period associated to the return, go to Postings. Highlight the batch containing the corporation tax journal (as shown below) and click on Delete Batch.

Once this has been deleted, this should then elevate the permission to delete the tax return. Please re-attempt the deletion process and the return should be removed from your list.

If you continue to have difficulties, it is likely that you use the task or jobs function and have this return linked to the piece of work. You will need to remove the link to the CT period through the work management screens before re-attempting the deletion.

If you have tried all of the above and are still struggling to achieve the expected result, please contact the support team.
