Please see the following instructions on how to complete the Capital Gains Tax (CGT) pages on HMRC Forms

Go to Capital Gains > Do you want to complete the Capital Gains page? ‘Yes’ > Do you wish to use Forms Mode? ‘Yes’

HMRC Forms mode is a form filling exercise where you compile the information in as totals and reference the HMRC CGT notes as additional information. We believe excel to be the best tool to provide you with the ability to declare the breakdown of the details (and save the document as a PDF).

If a broker has sent you the details of multiple share trading transactions, you need to complete the below steps:

  1. Browse to Capital Gains > CG1
  2. Complete the applicable boxes on screen from the details provided by your broker.
  3. Click Next Step
  4. Complete the applicable boxes on screen from the details provided by your broker.
  5. Click Next Step
  6. Complete the applicable boxes on screen in relation to Losses, adjustments and NRCGT
  7. Go to Check and Finish > Add your own PDF attachment > Add PDF. If you don’t have the PDF then you will need to complete one of the two options –
    • If the data is on your computer already but is in another format, you will need to use a software for PDF creation
    • If you have a paper copy, you will need to scan the document to generate the PDF file.

Once attached, the PDF is saved within the TaxCalc file. If you make changes to your PDF, you'll need to reload this into the tax return. To do this, you need to

  • Go to Check and Finish > Add your own PDF attachment
  • Tick the check box next to the File Name
  • Remove selected
  • Add PDF
  • Click OK
  • Browse to your file
  • Open

If you need further information on the Section 104 Holding and how to deal with these transactions then please see the below HMRC webpages:
