Updates need to be sent to HMRC quarterly and by the deadline, to avoid penalties, but it is possible to send more frequently if this is preferred.

  1. Click Create New UpdateFrom here the Import data screen is displayed where you can import, map and save data.
If the data being imported is for a foreign property business, the country where the property is located needs to be added to Business Information before data can be imported. When this is done, a table will be displayed showing the relevant countries for the business; select the country that data is being imported for, prior to clicking Select file.
  2. The Period start date and Period end date for the submission will be automatically calculated but the Period end date can be changed if the submission is for a shorter period.
  3. Click Summarised data to import consolidated expenses.
  4. Alternatively click Detailed breakdown to report expenses by category. You must choose this option if your annual turnover is likely to be greater than £90,000.
  5. Click Select file to locate the file to be imported.
  6. Click Save a copy of the imported spreadsheet if required.
  7. Click Next to move to the Map data screen. From here you can map the data to be imported.
  8. Once you have mapped the relevant data, click Save and next
The Data import summary report is displayed.
  9. Check the data is correct. If not, select Back to mapping.
  10. If the data is mapped correctly click Submit to HMRC
  11. Alternatively click Close to return to the Data Submissions screen if you are not ready to submit to HMRC; the data will be saved.
