In some situations a Windows PC may not allow TaxCalc to be installed as it claims that it is running on XP, although the computer is running Windows 7 or later.
This will happen if the TaxCalc application is running in compatibility mode for XP. While this situation is unusual it is easily resolved.
- Right hand click on the TaxCalc icon
- Choose properties
- Go to the Compatibility tab and untick the Windows XP compatibility option
- Save this change, and close the window
- Start TaxCalc and run the update as normal from the notifications option
While there is no reason this option should be set, TaxCalc have seen this on a very small number of computers attempting to run the late 2017 update.
