Change in Personal Authentication Data – option to provide eye colour is no longer available

Article ID: 2821
Last updated: 05 Apr, 2022

The ‘Eye colour’ field has been disabled to prevent accidental use as part of the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) in May 2018, Companies House have reviewed the 3 out of 7 personal data used to authenticate subscribers for electronic submissions.

Companies House have decided to remove the option of the first three letters of eye colour from the list of Personal Authentication Data due to the fact that, under GDPR, biometric data is categorised as ‘special category’ data and therefore subject to stricter controls.

Please note: The ‘Eye Colour’ is not being replaced by an alternative option therefore please complete 3 out of 6 options to authenticate subscribers.
