Guide to your client’s journey through the verification process

  1. Your client will receive an email/SMS providing them with a link to complete the biometric identity check and a personal registration code. Selecting Get Me In will start the check.

The link will open a secure page in the default browser:

  1. In the next step they have to read through and accept the Terms of use:
  2. If they open the email on their desktop, after accepting Terms of use, your client will have a choice to switch to mobile or continue on desktop. The rest of the journey is based on the desktop but the mobile experience is similar and differences are noted:

  3. The next screen explains why the check was requested and what documents can be used:

  4. Then your client has to input their personal details:

  5. In the next step your client will select which form of ID they would like to submit:

  6. There will be onscreen instructions given on how to take the best photograph of the document:

  7. Now it’s time to take a photograph of the document using the outlines provided as guidance. Once the photograph is accepted they will receive the following message:

  8. If your client is completing the check on their mobile phone and is using a passport as their identity document, they will be asked to scan the NFC chip using contactless technology - holding the phone in physical contact with the passport, with the phone on top of the passport just as they would when completing a contactless payment.

  9. Your client will now be asked to take a selfie to confirm they are live and present:

  10. The guidance on the screen will help them to take the best picture possible, ensuring the eyes and face line up with the gridlines.

  11. Once the selfie has been successfully submitted, depending on the type of the biometric identity check requested, your client may need to add their home address. There is an option to find the address using the postcode lookup, or you client can enter it manually.

  12. Your client may be asked to provide some additional information, if for example there are issues with the identification document (e.g. an NFC chip scan can't be performed because user completes the check on a desktop browser); otherwise the check is complete and the client can close the browser.
