Installing the new (QT6) version of TaxCalc release 16.5.460+

NOTE: The new version of TaxCalc 16.5.460 can be used on one (or more) machines in your office without affecting any existing users. The new 64-bit QT6 version and the current 32-bit version of 16.5.460 are compatible with each other when connected to the same network or cloud database.

We are currently phasing this release out and please contact support@taxcalc.com to request this release. In the future this will become a standard release for all users. Ahead of updating any TaxCalc application it is good practice to ensure you have a recent backup taken.

Download the windows installer (you should have been provided with a link to do so) and run it on the machine that you are upgrading.

  • Click Next on the screen above

  • Leave the Typical installation option selected and click on Next to continue

  • The 64-bit Program Files installation location should be completed automatically. Typically you should leave this as it is and click on Next to continue (NOTE: That the existing 32-bit windows installation would be in C:\Program Files(x86)\ location, but this will be removed later)

  • Click on the I Agree button to accept the EULA and proceed

  • Click on Install to start the installation process

  • The next screen will show you the installation progress

Removing the existing 32-bit installation

On the next screen, if you have the 32-bit older TaxCalc installed, you will be asked to remove it.

The following screen will appear (and the Uninstaller for the older version should open a few seconds later):

  • …as above, the following uninstaller should open shortly afterwards:

  • Complete the steps in the unsinstaller above to remove the older version

  • Once uninstalled, the new installer should continue automatically:

  • You’ve now removed the old 32-bit version and installed the new 64-bit version of TaxCalc.

Note:

- if you have pinned TaxCalc to your TaskBar you may need to unpin this and re-pin as this may be pointing to the old location

- in some cases the new shortcut may not create automatically. To create a shortcut manually you can point to the locattion "C:\Program Files\Acorah Software Products\TaxCalcHub\TaxCalchub.exe" and used this.
