When creating or editing an eSign envelope, users can choose between two available protection options:

  • Advanced Electronic Signature (OTP)
  • Standard Electronic Signature

Within eSign Centre > Create an envelope select the required protection:

Advanced Electronic Signature (OTP)

This option is the highest protection level offered, which includes a one time password sent to the signer’s mobile phone for additional authentication.

Using this option requires a valid UK mobile number saved for the signer recipient. The number must be saved in the format of 07xxxxxxxxx or 7xxxxxxxxx only.

eSign Centre has validation checks in place and allows you to update the number from within eSign to the appropriate format.

This option is a compliance requirement for some documents e.g. r40 forms.

Standard Electronic Signature

This is the standard protection level. An email with a link to open the documents is sent to the recipients and the documents can be opened with no additional authentication.

The Add password option allows you to add a pre-selected password to a standard protection level envelope.

The password can be set either in the client record for recipients of this client’s envelopes, or using a general rule set in Admin centre > Applications > Customise eSign > PDF encryption, and will need to be agreed upon/sent separately to the recipients.
