Is there a Cloud version of TaxCalc?

The TaxCalc Accountancy Practice suite has, for many years, operated on desktop platforms running Windows, Mac or Linux. In each case the database could be stored on the computer itself or any other to which it is networked, whether that is another designated workstation or a dedicated server.

During 2015, we announced an upcoming chargeable service that would allow one or more desktop installations to instead connect, from anywhere in the world, to a remote database that we store in the cloud. TaxCalc CloudConnect was successfully released in May 2016.

Pursuing this approach delivers a number of benefits:

  • We have been able to supply the full range of our software products from launch.
  • The interface is exactly the same one familiar to desktop customers, allowing – amongst other things – multiple applications, clients and periods to be open at the same time.
  • We maintain the server installation and back up your data for you, removing this burden and giving peace of mind, although you are also able to take your own back-ups if you wish.
  • Local processing means that performance is comparable to the current desktop experience without the lag common to purely browser-based applications.
  • Additional controls on the local desktop installation deliver superior levels of security, exceeding industry standards and appropriate to a profession where the practitioner carries clear responsibility for the confidentiality of client data, as well as their own.
