How do I change an .xhtml file to .html?
TaxCalc produces files with the extension .xhtml. Before you send a file to HMRC, you may need to change the extension to .html. To do this, follow the instructions below.
Windows 11/10/8
- Browse to the accounts file in File explorer.
- Click on View at the top of the screen.
- Ensure that you have a tick in the box for File name extensions.
- Right-click the file and select Rename.
- Delete the x from .xhtml to give *.html (where * is the name of your file).
Windows 7
- Browse to the file.
- Go to Organize > Folder and search options.
- Click on the View tab.
- Un-tick Hide extensions for known file types.
- Click on Apply.
- Click on OK.
- Right-click the file and select Rename.
- Delete the x from .xhtml to give *.html (where * is the name of your file).
Using Mac OS-X
- Open the Finder window.
- Go to Finder > Finder preferences > Advanced > Show all filename extensions.
- Browse to the file.
- Double-click on the file.
- Delete the x from .xhtml to give *.html (where * is the name of your file).
