Error message: 9999 when filing to Companies House

If you receive error message 9999 when trying to file to Companies House, this could be for a large number of reasons but is usually due to an issue with the content of the accounts.

In some cases it may relate to the online filing service being down or due to your filing credentials being entered incorrectly.

The following details are often entered incorrectly:

  • Company registration number – must include the 0 and match the number on the Companies House website.
  • Company name – must match the name on the public record.
  • Presenter Identifier.
  • Presenter authentication.
  • Company authentication code.

To resolve this, check the above, make changes where necessary and resubmit the accounts.
