How do I submit the Community Interest Company (CIC) Report to Companies House?

Companies House prescribes that certain financial statements are filed as a zip package via the Companies House online filing portal on Companies House website. TaxCalc File to Companies House Wizard will help you to prepare the package in the right format ready to be filed manually outside TaxCalc.

The forms must be produced in the iXBRL format; paper versions/copies of the zip packages will not be accepted by Companies House. 

The filing fee is still £15, the same as for paper filing, payment should be made using a credit/debit card, not on credit account.

Once the CIC Report and financial statements are approved and signed by the director, you can prepare the zip package:

  1. Click on Check and Finish.

  2. Ensure that there are no errors, click on File to Companies House.

  3. Go through the File to Companies House Wizard, choosing whether you want to submit either:

    • Registrar Financial Statements – excludes Directors Report and Profit and Loss Account.

    • Full Financial Statements – excludes Trading Profit and Loss.

  4. Ensure that you select a convenient location on your computer or server for saving a zip package.

  5. When the zip package is saved to your chosen location and you are ready to file, you must file the zip package manually via https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/accounts-filing.

  6. Selecting Go to Companies House website within the File to Companies House Wizard will open the Companies House filing portal starting page in your default browser. Alternatively, you can manually open the same page by typing the above URL address in your browser.
