Biometric Identity Check - Document Verification Results
This article aims to help you understand the results you may see for the Document Verification check performed as part of the biometric identity check.
Document Verification Results
For Document Verification results, you will be presented with one of two outcomes:
- Passed (Green) - When a Document Verification appears as green, this means that the document has been passed.
- Failed (red) - When a Document Verification appears as red, this means that our partner Credas has not been able to verify that the document is genuine and valid. An example may be that the document is expired. A breakdown on what caused the failure will be available in the Report.
When you review the report, you will be presented with a list of checks that have been run on the Document Verification and whether these have passed, failed, or were not performed, as can be seen below.

Facial Match
|
|
This checks whether the face on the Identity Document matches the face from the liveness selfie.
|
|
PASS
|
Credas has been able to verify the individual in the document image and the submitted selfie are one and the same.
|
|
FAIL
|
Credas has been unable to verify the individual in the document image and the submitted selfie are one and the same. You may wish for the individual to have another attempt.
|
|
REFER
|
Credas has been unable to verify the individual in the document image and the submitted selfie are one and the same - and this will need manual review by yourselves. You may wish for the individual to have another attempt.

|
Visual Analysis
|
|
This checks if the document is a valid Government-issued Identity Document
|
|
PASS
|
Credas has been able to check and verify the document as genuine and valid.
|
|
FAIL
|
Credas has been unable to check and verify the document as genuine and valid. For example, the document is expired, the document is damaged, the document is a scan/copy or the photograph is too blurry. You may wish for the individual to have another attempt.
|
|
NOT PERFORMED
|
Visual analysis has not been performed as the passport NFC was scanned instead.
|
|
Name Match
|
|
This checks whether the name on the Identity Document matches the name entered on the invitation.
|
|
PASS
|
Credas has been able to verify the name on the document matches the name input on the invitation.
|
|
REFER
|
Credas has been unable to verify the name on the document matches the name input on the invitation and this will need manual review by yourselves. We recommend completing due diligence to identify why the individuals name on the document does not match that which you entered on the invitation.

|
Date of Birth Match
|
|
This checks whether the date of birth on the Identity Document matches the date of birth on the invitation. The Date of Birth will appear as either pass.

|
PASS
|
Credas has been able to verify the date of birth on the document matches the date of birth input on the invitation.
|
|
REFER
|
Credas has been unable to verify the date of birth on the document matches the date of birth input on the invitation and this will need manual review by yourselves. We recommend completing due diligence to identify why the individuals date of birth does not match that which you entered on the invitation.
|
|
NOT PERFORMED
|
The check has not been performed as no date of birth was added on the invitation.
|
|
Valid Document Type
|
|
This checks whether the Identity Document captured is a valid configured option.
|
|
PASS
|
The document provided is a valid configured option.
|
|
FAIL
|
The document provided is not a valid configured option. For example, if you have issued a passport only journey, if anything except a passport has been captured, this result will fail.
|
|
NFC Result
|
|
This checks the e-chip within a passport using NFC technology.
|
|
PASS
|
Credas has been able to check the RFID chip and verify the document as valid.
|
|
FAIL
|
Credas has been unable to check the RFID chip or verify the document as valid for a reason below:
|
|
Expired
|
Credas has successfully read the chip, but the document has expired. You may wish for the individual to resubmit a valid document.
|
|
Authentication Failed
|
Credas has successfully read the chip, but it has failed one or more of our validation checks.
|
|
NOT PERFORMED
|
Credas has been unable to check the RFID chip and verify the document as valid. This may be for one of the below reasons. You may wish for the individual to have another attempt by resubmitting the check.
|
|
Skipped
|
A NFC read has been attempted but the user skipped (available after 3 unsuccessful reading attempts).
|
|
Unavailable
|
The user device cannot perform an NFC read as its hardware or software is not capable.
|
|
Not allowed
|
The user has denied Credas permission for NFC reading. This is only an option on certain Android devices.
|
|
Age Validation Result
|
|
This checks whether the date of birth of on the Identity Document confirms the holder is at least 16 years of age as that is the minimum age we can verify
|
|
PASS
|
Credas has been able to verify the date of birth on the document confirms the individual is at least 16 years of age.
|
|
FAIL
|
Credas has been able to verify the date of birth on the document confirms the individual is under 16 years of age. Credas is unable to Identity Verification checks on individuals under 16 years of age.
|
|
Police Record
|
|
This checks whether the Identity Document has been recorded on the UK Metropolitan 'Amberhill' Police Database as lost, stolen or compromised
|
|
PASS
|
Credas has been able to verify the document does not appear on the 'Amberhill' database.
|
|
FAIL
|
Credas has been able to verify the document does appear on the 'Amberhill' database. We recommend referring to your organisations internal policies on what to do next.
|
|
Compromised Alert
|
|
This checks whether the Identity Document is publicly available as compromised on national databases of reported compromised documents
|
|
PASS
|
Credas has been able to verify the document has not been reported as compromised.
|
|
FAIL
|
Credas has been able to verify the document has been reported as compromised. We recommend referring to your organisations internal policies on what to do next.
|
|
Repeated Attempts Alert
|
|
This checks whether the Identity Document has been submitted previously but with different information. For example, same face and passport number but different date of birth.
|
|
PASS
|
Credas has been able to verify the document has not been flagged as suspicious for repeated attempts.
|
|
FAIL
|
Credas has been able to verify the document has been flagged as suspicious for repeated attempts. We recommend referring to your organisations internal policies on what to do next.
