When opening TaxCalc you may receive the following Access Permission message when attempting to select any of the tax years: 

This error is likely caused by permission issues. To check this, complete the below steps:

1. Close TaxCalc.
2. Right-click on the TaxCalc icon.
3. Choose Run as administrator.

If this resolves the problem, you may need to set the program to always run as the administrator user.

How to set TaxCalc to always run as administrator

• Right hand click on TaxCalc.
• Go to properties.
• Select the compatibility tab.
• Select the check box run this program as an administrator.
• Click OK to save and close the window.

Now when you start TaxCalc it will prompt to run as administrator.

The requirement to run as administrator is normally caused by account restrictions or User Account Control settings.
