You may need to reset the two-factor authentication if you have lost a device or think that your authentication code has been compromised. You can do this by:

  1. Logging in to TaxCalc Hub, using an account with permission to access Admin Centre.
  2. Go to Admin Centre→Users and edit the user in question.
  3. On the About the User screen, untick the 2FA box and save changes.
  4. Edit the user again and re-tick the 2FA box to re-enable 2FA for that user.
  5. When the user tries to log in again, they will be asked to set up 2FA again with a new QR code.

Please Note: You should only need to enter the PIN to log in once every 30 days on each device that you use. If you switch and connect to a different TaxCalc database you will need to enter a PIN when you switch back to a database/user with 2FA enabled.

What if the Admin User Needs to be Reset?

If the ‘admin’ user login needs to be reset and no other users have permission to reset from within TaxCalc Hub, then:

  1. Go to taxcalc.com and log into your web account.
  2. Go to My Account and then Edit My Details.
  3. If you have 2FA set up on the website as well then you will need to complete the authentication and then click on Edit My Contact Details.
  4. Tick the Turn off for Admin user box in the TaxCalc Application 2FA section.
  5.  Save changes.
  6. Restart your TaxCalc application and you should be able to log in with the ‘admin’ user name and password without the need for 2FA.
  7. You can then turn on 2FA for the admin user again as with any other user, using the steps above.

Can I bulk turn off 2FA for all users?

Yes, you can and to do this you will need to:

  1. Log into TaxCalc 'admin'
  2. go to Admin Centre \ Users
  3. Click on Bulk Update 2FA
  4. Select Turn off 2FA for all users and click Apply

How do I generate a new QR code?

You may have a situation where you change phones or authenticator provider so are no longer to retrieve the code associated with that QR session. Turning off 2FA and back on does not reset the session indicator so to generate a new QR code for a user please:

  1. Log into TaxCalc 'admin'
  2. Go to Admin Centre \ Users
  3. Edit the user in question and turn off 2FA, and save the record
  4. Edit the user and turn on 2FA, and save the record
  5. Edit the user and turn off 2FA, and save the record
    1. this step, as it has been completed within a single session clear the 2FA token
  6. Edit the user and turn on 2FA, and save the record
  7. Logging into TaxCalc as this user will now present a new QR code.
