Deactivating an Existing Task

If you are already using Tasks in Practice Manager to manage your work, but have purchased our enhanced Practice Manager product, Practice Manager Plus, to take advantage of our new Job Template functionality, simply follow the Getting Started with Practice Manager Plus guide to create your Job Templates, allocate to your Services and activate your Jobs, and when you are ready, simply deactivate your existing Tasks. 

You can either deactivate any existing Tasks, or set the Task Recurrence to No. Therefore, you can continue with your existing Tasks until completion, then start using Jobs.

Follow these steps to deactivate your existing Tasks:

  1. Open Practice Manager Plus.
  2. Select the client from the list and click Edit Client/Contact.
  3. Select Active Work.
  4. Select the Task to be deactivated and click Activate.
  5. The Activate a Task or Job dialog is displayed.
  6. Click Activate Task.
  7. The Services dialog is displayed.
  8. Select the active Task from the list and click Deactivate.
  9. The following message is displayed, ‘Deactivate Service? This action will delete items of work associated with the selected service. To confirm click Delete. This action cannot be reversed.’
  10. Click Delete to deactivate the Task.

Follow these steps to set Task Recurrence to No in bulk by using the Task Recurrence Checker:

  1. Launch Admin Centre.
  2. Select Applications.
  3. Select Practice Manager Plus.
  4. Select Customise Practice Manager.
  5. From the Client and non-client activities menu, select Task Options.
  6. Click Recurrence Checker.
  7. The Task Recurrence Checker dialog is displayed.
  8. Select the recurring Tasks you want to deactivate.
  9. Click Deactivate.
  10. The following message is displayed, 'Deactivate Recurrence? Would you like to deactivate the recurrence for the selected task(s)? To revert this change, you will need to edit the specific task within the work management screen or the active work screen for the associated client.'
  11. Click Stop Recurrence to deactivate the Task.
