Managing & Importing Tax Return External Files into the Database

TaxCalc defaults the tax returns to be stored in the central database. However files can be stored externally but we do not recommend this as it may cause potential duplication of data, particularly if running a network version.

It is possible to import external files directly into Practice Manager. Simply follow the steps below:

  1. Open up Admin then go to Applications
  2. Highlight Tax Return Production then select Customise TaxCalc on the left hand side
  3. Select Managing External Tax Return Files
  4. A list of tax returns stored should be displayed in the table. Select the option to Import All to bring them through into the database

Note that the drop-down arrow can be used to filter through the return types you want to view and import. If the return has either been removed or deleted from that specific file location, 'File Missing' will be displayed and it will not be possible to complete the import unless the return has been located.
